Madeleine Castaing

French interior decorator Madeleine Castaing (1894-1992) designed all the images from yesterday's post. She was the queen of leopard! Castaing became a cult figure, in spite of, or because she created rave-review rooms with undistinguished objects, often of dodgy condition, and for creating rooms that her followers describe as closer to art than decoration. She used colors and patterns that you would never think to use together, but the result was always captivating. 'I decorate houses the way that others paint pictures or write books,’ Castaing said in later years. She was also famous for declaring; - 'Sometimes you need a bit of bad taste!’I couldnt agree with her more, though I would highly debate weather leopard is bad taste. Here are more of her work with leopard;
